Tasks

PraxisNote tasks use a kanban-style board with three columns — Todo, In Progress, and Done. Each task can be flagged as a priority, given a due date, tagged, and annotated with comments. Tasks save instantly and support undo on destructive actions.

  1. Open Tasks from the sidebar.
  2. Click the + button at the top of the Todo column (or press N on desktop).
  3. Type a title and press Enter.
  4. Your task appears in the Todo column, ready to be worked on.

Every task lives in one of three columns:

ColumnMeaningTime shown
TodoQueued but not started
In ProgressActively being worked onElapsed time since started (e.g. “3h”, “2d”)
DoneCompletedTime since completion (e.g. “5m ago”, “1d ago”)
  • Drag and drop — grab any task card and drop it into another column. You can also reorder tasks within a column by dragging.
  • Context menu — not applicable; use drag-and-drop on desktop.

When a task moves to In Progress, PraxisNote records the start timestamp. When it moves to Done, the completion timestamp is recorded so you can track when work was finished.

You can create a task in any column:

  1. Click the + button at the top of the desired column.
  2. An inline text field appears at the top of the column.
  3. Type a title and press Enter to save, or Escape to cancel.

On desktop, pressing N (when not in a text field) opens the inline creation field in the Todo column.

Click on a task’s title text to edit it inline. Press Enter to save or Escape to cancel. Use Shift+Enter to insert a line break within the title.

Each task card contains several interactive elements:
